Is My 3-Year-Old Too Young for Ointment After Upset Stomach?

My 3 year old has had an upset stomach for most of today. He’s pooped about 5 times today. 2 solids. 1 diarrhea. 1 straight water. And now it seems to be back to solid. No fever. Right before this last poop, he said his stomach is okay. I did notice a little bit of blood when I whipped him this last time.

Is he too young to apply ointment for his tiny booty? I can imagine the irritating feeling hes having in that area.
