😂 my dog would pee herself and runaway she is so nervous great with the kids but she likes space. I just continually repeat myself about appropriate contact with dogs, he now asked if he’s allowed to speak to a strange dog, with our dog I am working on you don’t touch her face and pet her like soft and don’t pull ears, tails etc. I do feel like o say it all day but I dread the time he pokes a dog in the face and it reacts badly.
Looks like yours have a great little bond standing so close to each other and the dog allowing him to sit on his back, it’s great raising them around a dog

@jo.wilcox, have you read anything on the blue dog? Or looked at psychology of the child and how the interpret a dogs reactions? It terrifies me, children think a dog bearing teeth and growling is a smile. Not something I have ever seen our do do but like you said strange dogs you just don’t know. I know I am moany and strict about it, people probably roll their eyes it’s just something I’m funny about

no I haven’t read it, sounds like it might be worth reading though I’ll have a look! Charlie was slightly cautious at first because my nans dog has warned him off a few times (chihuahua, fucking ankle biters 🙄) but he’s gotten really comfortable with our dog but I’d never want him to make the mistake with a strange dog. I’d rather have people eye rolling and my child stay safe than god forbid something happens because people got sick of listening to me go on and on!

I've got 2 staffys aswel, boy n girl she absolutely adores the kids loves them to bits we're as my boy if adams sat down hell sit next t him the minute he stands up he's legged it away from him, then he watches my girl getting strokes and playing with the ball but he just can't adapt to him while he's so little but loves older kids like my brother n sisters, I find that girls temperament is soooo much better than boys too. She's beautiful and just have t tell Charlie she's not a toy she's a animal which is eaiser said than done like. His behaviour might change dramatically with having her too there therapeutic 👌 xx

Aww love them! The circumstances we got her under we didn’t get to go out and ‘choose’ but she’s the best dog! Aww some dogs just prefer kids when they’re bigger, smaller kids tend to be too ‘pokey’ and have no concept of personal space 🤣 we are going through a lot of issues with him at the moment in terms of autism assessment and help with behaviour etc so I’m hoping she calms him down a little bit. He’s taken a keen liking to her which is a fab start because he usually pays no attention to dogs!
