I will also add, there are several factors with the child credit and low income credit so y’all may want to see who gets back more by claiming them. Just because he has made more money doesn’t mean he will get the most back if he claims the kids. Try turbo tax and put in your info and income along with the kids to see what it says. Have him do it as well. I would let whoever would gets the most back claim them.

@wildchildmama, you’re welcome. It’s a lot that determines how much you get back. Turbo tax is free and will take you step by step. Don’t submit it at the end. Wait for him to input his info on his own account and compare the differences. Then decide who claims the kids.

If you are filing separately due to not being married only one of you can claim the kids.

I don’t think both people can claim them as dependents. Not 100% sure though.
