Do any of your friends compare development of their children to yours?
I had a friend visit yesterday and she constantly compares our babies, her 2yo has started potty training and she comments wow Hamish isn’t done by now he’s quite delayed! Or her baby same age as Ailsa should have been and they are doing pretty much identical things but then she comments “yes but Ailsa is pretty much one”
So annoying I don’t mind when they do things they are all different and should be left to come on themselves, obviously with parental support and guidance where needed I don’t neglect them.

My girl is 4 and still wets herself 🤷🏼♀️ every child is different. Maeves 2 and no where near ready for the potty!
I’ve got a “friend” (I use that term very loosely) who’s son is 4 months younger than Lola. She brags all the time how hes so ahead of his milestones and so much cleverer than Lola blah blah blah yet he clearly isn’t (he’s non verbal and still in nappies) his development is nearer Maeve than Lola’s.

Hamish not being toilet trained doesn’t worry me, I tried him in the summer and we had weeks of 10-20 pees and poos before I said he’s not ready. Have started again and he’s doing great with daytime pees poos not there yet but that’s fine.
I don’t see the need to brag about my children’s development. I’m proud as punch when they do things but they do it when they do it. I think also with ailsa being premature I have know that she might not develop at a normal rate, which doesn’t bother me.
She also commented about the face I want to keep them both back a year as their birthdays are at the cut off in Scotland so they will be really young when starting. I have said I will talk to nursery and consider at the time. She said deferred entry is unnecessary it’s just parents unwilling to let go. Why people feel the need to comment on my parenting when I’m causing no harm to them is beyond me

My “friend” compares her daughter to grace only 5 weeks between the two and yet she’s like oh grace is potty trained and that but her daughters very behind with her speech development ,they’ve only just started to potty train their daughter , grace still has the odd accident if she’s busy playing and leaves it too late
Everyone’s different and no kid is the same
I compare Eli to grace because she was doing more than him at his age and I said that to one of the consultants at the hospital but he’s getting there
Every child will do things when they are ready like potty training or talking ect

I think the same they are all unique and develop when is right for them. It’s just irritating that she does it

Ah just ignore her! They are all very different and do things in their own time. I’ve had one potty trained at 2, and one potty trained way after 3 years. And my youngest hasn’t started yet. Ones spoke sentences at 18 months and another hasn’t till after 2. By the time they get to school they’re all pretty much on the same level anyway xx

There is lots of research now that says prem babies take until 5yo to “catch up”, if it takes ailsa longer it takes her longer I’m not worried about it, she will be what she is. As long as my kids are happy it’s all I want
Georgina··
aw yeah, I mean with the potty training etc for your oldest. Don’t worry about that lady’s comments they’re irrelevant 😊 exactly! That’s all that matters, as long as your all happy xx
Emma·
My sister in law did this. Her son is 2 months younger. She doesn't so much now that they are older and my son has been diagnosed with learning difficulties.
Emma··
@casey19 very. There's just no need for it. It's like comparing ourselves to one another, no 2 people are the same!
Emma··
the worst is when she said oh he was doing that months ago!
Casey··
that’s so cheeky! I get happy when I see how other children are developing wether it’s quicker than mine or not. It makes me happy because I know how happy it makes me as a parent

Yep, and she doesn’t mean too as she’s a ftm and relies on me to give her confidence. Her daughter was born 15hours after my youngest, hers was 34weeks and my son was 32weeks. She’s being trying to stand from 3 months and now has 6 teeth my son started trying to stand at 8 months and has no teeth 😂
I’ve tried telling her all babies are different but she worries took much despite being ‘ahead’ of mine 🤷♀️
My sons happy and loves rolling around so I’m not worried x
Casey··
That is the main thing, are they happy isn’t it.
Rolling around at 8m born at 32w is amazing💙
Vicci Ball··
yep it is, he’s more happier then another friends 2year old. He’s comfortable in any place we go to, yet her son will cry everywhere.
I know he’s done so well with rolling, we have to be careful that my eldest hasn’t left any Lego bits lying on the floor. Once he gets going he’s off 😂😂

Мама дочки (1 год)
My friend said to me the other day “she’s gone to bed early” meaning Mia ! And it’s just little comments like that where I think she has no idea how my day has been or know enough about my child to comment lol 😂 why don’t people mind their own business 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️...
Casey··
Yes the little comments so annoying isn’t it

My sister has a baby 12days apart from my daughter. She does this all the time but the way i see it. All babies develop differently and they all soon catch up. Please don't take any notice of the comments. You are doing amazingly.
