I can understand why they don’t want kids on the tour during flu season. And most hospitals are required to give that information to mothers who choose to use formula or bottle feed it’s standard procedure.

You can refuse any of those things but they are required to offer those services.

as far as the coming inside the room non stop every hour or so.. it’s just bc they have to check up on baby and you. it’s only annoying when you’re trying to sleep and baby is asleep and they come in drawing blood(if they have to) or just to check up on baby/you.😭

also if you’re not comfortable with someone trying to help you with breastfeeding, if that’s the route you’re choosing to go.. you don’t have to have anyone touch you/help you.. express those concerns/feelings to nurses, lactation consultant and etc

Tell them I don’t need help but thanks after I had my last one nobody asked me anything or tried to help they brought in the baby and. I left on day two it’s none of there business say I don’t need ppl telling me anything but thanks I literally put him on the boob and he just latched I know it’s not like that for everyone but if you don’t even want to don’t let them push shit on you go to a different hospital

Well I can’t think of a single hospital (and I’ve delivered at 4) that doesn’t want you to try breastfeeding. A lactation consultant will always stop buy. Again breastfeeded 4 kids and they still came by. They ask if you need help and if not they leave. I’m sure she isn’t going to go around touching your breast without consent. And as far as people coming in. Yea. It’s what happens. Between all the nurses, doctors, pediatrician, testing people, picture people. There’s always people. And delivering 3 babies in winter. They limit the number of visitors because of germs. They want to keep your baby and other patients safe. It all seems like normal things that you’d find at any hospital. You can either change doctors and hospitals or keep it the same. Not much of a choice you have

I mean they do have to educate on breastfeeding. But they shouldn’t have been rude. Ultimately when the time comes they can’t force breastfeeding. As far as touching I think you’re letting your anxiety get too much. If you don’t want a lactation consultant touching you tell them. They can’t force it. You said you won’t really be expecting visitors so I’m not sure why the 2 person limit is bothering you so much. It’s a very common rule especially with a lot

Of families waiting to have visitors until they get home. Overall I don’t think it’s much to stress about. When the time comes I’m sure it’ll be a lot better than you’re expecting.

If I was a patient who just gave birth I wouldn’t be thrilled with children touring through the birthing center either, especially during cold and flu season. So I understand the hospital’s stance and attitude on that. Promoting and educating on breastfeeding is standard procedure these days.

Here where I’ve delivered in ca they do have a limit on who can be in the room during birth after that they do limit to two people while they are getting you and baby situated and the normal process they do right after baby is done right after they move you to your post Partum room where you will stay until you go home you can have as many visitors as you want as long as they are quiet they do limit the children though during cold season so 14 and under can not access the maternity ward because it’s too risky

As a mom of four, who does not know what to do if I go before my mom gets here. I can see you’re irritation. Because we don’t live on base or anything, but we don’t really have people either. So I am gonna have to talk to the doctor and hospital myself. Is it Tricare your with? If so may address you concern so you can go to a different hospital.

I understand where your coming from though sometimes it’s not what you do but how you do it and try definitely could’ve handled themselves better hopefully it works out for you mama

Did you verify that your kids could be in the room when you delivered? Idk what base you're at but I'm an ex navy wife and I remember one spouse ran into some trouble when she tried to bring in her toddler when she was delivering. She ended up having to call the ombudsman.

Like the other women said the hospital could've been a little more tactful about bringing the kids on the tour but ultimately the policies exist usually because one person ruined it for everyone else. They don't know that your children are 100% healthy. At the end of the day you have ten weeks to figure things out and at the end of it all you'll be able to have your baby home in no time.
