I’ve been told by our former pediatrician that it’s best to judge more by how they are acting than the degree of fever

@hakunamafuckitall, i definitely understand. Make her as comfy as you can and if you aren’t comfortable with how she is acting for feeling, give her dr a ring. I hope she feels better soon.

@dontblockmesis-imjustspeakingfacts thank you she has never really been sick before so it freaks me out

@hakunamafuckitall, it sounds like she has a virus. Which is very common this time of year. Fevers are the body’s way for fighting and doin their job. You can rotate Tylenol and Motrin, you can give her baths to help her body temp to come down. Its recommended to not bundle them with layers of clothes. Keep her comfortable in the least amount of clothes she is comfy in because clothes and blankets make your temp rise. Offer her sips of water, Gatorade, juice. She will likely drink more than eat while sick. It’s suggested that a temp 102 and under doesn’t need to be medicated as long as she isn’t uncomfortable and in pain. Anything higher for her comfort medicate. Let her body do its thing. A virus can take a few days for her to start feeling better.

That sucks. When you first brought her in she could have not had one but because of all the drainage and congestion etc it could have caused one. My son battled with ear infections for about a year until he had tubes placed. They always gave him such a hard time. A lot of times he didn’t pull at his ear or anything, he would randomly get a high fever. Did they give her oral antibiotics or ear drops?

Sounds like she’s doing better and as others have said likely just battling a virus. Tylenol and ibuprofen may drop temps by a degree or two but don’t be concerned if they don’t bring it back to normal. If she’s not uncomfortable, I’d let the fever do it’s job as it’s even been thought that by not treating a fever the duration of illness may be a bit shorter.

Our pediatrician and nurse says that anything under 103 is a therapeutic fever. Meaning it’s doing its job. If it’s over that OR if she’s super sluggish not acting normal, medicate. If it’s over 103 and doesn’t come down after 30/60mins w meds and light clothing, she should be seen. Anything like stiffness of neck w fever should also be addressed ASAP.

Thank you I got it dont to 99.3 she is walking around in just underwear she seems a little better now

@hakunamafuckitall, that’s great I’m glad to hear. Even if the temp drops a couple points with a high fever .5 is a good enough drop
