Question ladies...is bronchitis contagious? My MIL has it and for about a week my 1 year old has been coughing up a storm and will go into coughing fits. Im calling his doctor today to get him an appointment. I just thought he had a normal cold.

It’s contagious if it’s from a virus or if it’s Acute and not chronic. They generally don’t prescribe antibiotics. With a virus you have to let it run its course. So taking him in may just expose him to more germs and make him prolong getting better.

They will probably only prescribe antibiotics if it’s been over 2 weeks and not getting any better. My daughter gets a bad cough every winter and it’s off and on for months. She uses an inhaler and sometimes allergy medicine. She only gets an antibiotic if it’s a severe cough that won’t go away.
