Any mommas having trouble with their little ones not sleeping or staying asleep throughout the night ?
I was having that issue with my kids
Specially my 3yr old not wanting to sleep at all
Doctor recommended I give them one of these gummy’s 15-20 minutes before bed
So far they have been a blessing
They have 1mg 5mg 10mg and I believe 20mg
I’ve tried 1mg and 5mg and they did nothing till I tried 10mg
All little ones are different
It’s only $10 for 100 gummy’s at Walmart
Hopefully this helps some mommy’s out there
I agree all little ones are different but man 10mg of melatonin seems like a lot for a toddler. 6mg will knock me and my husband out pretty quickly and we aren't small people lol.
My oldest was having bad anxiety and it not sleeping so they had me give her some for a short period of time with sleep music. She started off with two pills before bed week one 1 pill before bed week 2 and a half a pill week 3 and by the fourth week she just needed the sleep music. But they both were on the children’s brand by zarbees. It was two different doctors and they both said this brand was best and to use it for a short period of time. They didn’t want her depending on it for sleep they wanted her to find a natural way to find asleep. Now she sleeps fine unless she’s had a rough day.
I’ve tried everything with my kids and nothing has worked
Both my kids have had this issue since they were born
I’ve been struggling with them ever since
@queenbitch, do any of your kids have an ADHD diagnosis? Or do you suspect that they might? That might be a question worth pursuing with your doctor.
@scruffy.nerf.herder, no
They’ve been tested for everything
And everything comes back normal
So we don’t know what’s wrong with them
I give my boys those(Vicks brand) once in awhile when I see their having trouble sleeping
My kids don’t sleep
It doesn’t matter what I do to help them sleep it doesn’t help them at all
How is your toddler reacting to such a high dose? Our doctor gave me the ok to give mine 1mg after he turned 3 he only took it for month. He stopped napping during the day which has help us a lot he isn’t allowed to eat any sweets after 5 no screen time after 5 either he’s finally getting into a routine
He’s reacting pretty good
When I first started giving it to him I would keep an eye on him to see if he had any reaction or side effects but nothing
I give it to him
He lays down for about 10-15 minutes and falls asleep and wakes up at 8 am
Yikes I didn’t even know they made 10mg! That seems like way too much! Your one year old takes these too?!! My kids knock out easily at 8:30pm. They’re on the move ALL day long so by bedtime they collapse. I can’t imagine how any toddlers wouldn’t be able to tire themselves out during the day, unless they’re getting too much screen time?
@2sweetie, both my kids have their own room
@queenbitch, well that’s good they have their own rooms but it’s still surprising your 3 year can stay up that late. I remember at that age it was hard for my daughter to go to sleep but she’d be asleep by 10/10:30 at the latest. There’s no way she could stay up all night. She was in preschool and was kept busy all day.
@2sweetie, till this day I don’t understand how he was able to stay awake
He had so many test done and everything would come back normal so doctors don’t seem to understand why he doesn’t sleep
That’s the reason why they recommend the gummy’s
They started him with the 1mg and did nothing
The 5mg would put him to sleep but he would be up by 3am
So that’s why they told me to try 10mg
I know it’s strong but it’s the only one that keeps him asleep
Hopefully when he starts school everything changes
I give these to my kids my pediatrician approved! 🤷🏾♀️ my kids are fine. Girl if your dr said yes then that’s all that matters you know ppl on here think they are Doctors lol I’m a nurse and I don’t even act like I know everything cuz I don’t! Smh
Thank you 🙏
I was just trying to help
But they’re acting like I’m trying to poison the kids
@queenbitch, lol right! Girl just ignore it! That’s what I do. Cuz at the end of the day they are not taking care of your kids! You are. I tell ppl you do what you please with your kids. It’s not a big deal if someone does something different then you. We all have different styles and experience when it comes to motherhood. Even if you don’t agree just keep it moving. How is it affecting your life? Lol But if your name does have Dr. or MD in front of it idgaf what anyone has to say about anything 🤷🏾♀️
I honestly don’t remember asking anyone’s opinion on this
I was just trying to help moms in my situation
But people that know it all popped out of nowhere
I guess my child’s doctor is a dumass for recommending this for my kid
Only I know what it is to have a kid that doesn’t sleep at all
Unless your going through it you’ll understand
Meanwhile I really don’t care what anyone has to say
No one said your doctor* is a dumbass. People encouraged others to do their research. You recommended it to other moms, which I don’t think is appropriate given the research. If your doctor approved it for your child, great. Making a blanket recommendation to strangers is not the same thing as having a conversation with a doctor. People merely suggested that others do their research and look into it. And for the record, my son is a terrible sleeper and has been since birth.
I have a child who didn’t sleep much at all his first whole year, and I work full time. I was at work so sleep deprived that I would forget words and nearly fall asleep during my commute. So don’t think you’re the only mother on earth who has struggled with a child not sleeping. I know it’s tough for you because I’ve been there too.
Also, giving a child melatonin on a daily basis can disrupt their own body’s ability to produce it naturally. Melatonin supplements are meant to help short term, not be given daily. Please be careful in making a blanket recommendation like this.
I would encourage you to speak with your doctor some more about this. Does he mean for you to use it nightly? And are there other health issues possibly impacting your child’s ability to sleep? You may want to consult a sleep specialist. Good luck, I hope it gets better.
@queenbitch, I use to give my daughter melatonin when she was 3 till the age of 5 also recommended by her doctor it was a life saver she would only sleep for 3 hours a day so I feel your pain
He went weeks without sleep till the doctor told me about this
Im glad someone understand
Everyone else are acting like doctors and making seem like it’s a bad thing
Only mothers like us understand how frustrating it is when your child doesn’t sleep
@queenbitch, yes, I would go weeks with out sleep and finally talked to a dr. And even now that she is 7 she still sometimes will need it mainly when she is sick
@jaybird1988, it’s takes a toll on people
I felt like I couldn’t function
I agree with @bunsinmyoven ... Taking synthetic melatonin can disrupt the body’s ability to produce it on its own. It can also impact other systems like the cardiovascular system. It’s largely unregulated by the FDA & its long-term effects on young and developing bodies (children) is unknown.
Lawdddf everyone has different views obviously but the way sum people handle it is I just don’t get it
@bunsinmyoven, @nothingtoseehere, @prettygirlrock1214, like i said doctor said it was ok
We all have melatonin in our system
These gummy’s only reminds our melatonin to work properly
No need to get all worked up
I don’t give my kids anything before talking to a doctor or researching it
Only one who seems to be worked up is you. 🤷🏻♀️
@nothingtoseehere, lol right? I’m literally chillin not worked up at all. She tried it tho 🤷🏽♀️
My 3yr old wouldn’t sleep for days or he would only sleep and hour or two
Till I talked to his doctor
I agree all little ones are different but man 10mg of melatonin seems like a lot for a toddler. 6mg will knock me and my husband out pretty quickly and we aren't small people lol.
I agree my sister gives her almost 5 yr old 2.5mg I also give my almost 14 yr old 2.5mg
Mommies do your research before giving melatonin pls!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
