I need some opinions ladies. So we told our daughter that we weren’t getting a Christmas tree this year because ever since my MIL moved in we don’t go in the living room we literally stay in our rooms the whole time we are home. We just didn’t want her to get super excited about it and not actually get to enjoy it. Well last Sunday she told my daughter that she wants to buy her a tree and for her all excited after she knew we weren’t getting one. She got the tree and told my daughter that she gets to decorate it. But instead she had her friend come up and decorate it while we were gone. My daughters heart is soo broken. I feel so bad. How should I approach it? Should I just let it go?

Get her her own special little tree for her room. Target has little 2 ft pink ones and mini balls and lights

@luna_bear, it’s not our home. We moved in to take care of my husbands grandparents. His grandma recently passed so she decided to “come in” and take over just try and get the Will changed. We have been trying to move out but living here we’ve gone into so much debt with me not being able to work taking care of them. 😞 that’s a great idea I will get her a mini tree she will love that!

I would get her some ornaments so she can decorate it or make some homemade ones

Why do you just stay in your room? Do you not mix with your MIL at home?

Anyway I wouldn’t be annoyed that she got the tree but she shouldn’t have said your daughter could decorate it and then go back on that. I’d thank your MIL for getting the tree but let her know your daughter is upset and suggest a different activity they could do together. Baking cookies, some Christmas crafts or something. She probably doesn’t realise she’s upset your daughter and would like a chance to fix it.

Get her own little christmas tree and let her decorate. I’d ask mil why she promised and now your daughter is sad.

You guys should not only be staying in your bedrooms in your own home. You and your kids aren't prisoners and you should take control of your home. It was definitely insensitive for her to go ahead and decorate the tree without including your daughter. Rude. I would say, "I thought u and dd were suppose to decorate the tree together? What happened?"

On another note, maybe you could get your daughter her own mini tree for her room. Each of my kids have a mini tree on top of their dressers with lights and decorations and they really look forward to it every year

I wouldn't. I'd let her know it was disrespectful to tell her she could decorate it then fall back on her promise.

I think it's nice she got a tree even if u dont see it much it's still nice I would definitely tell her that she hurt her feelings though that she cant tell a child somthing and then not do it!

I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!

lillyb Good job giving ur self a break we all need them. See if maybe she will nurse
delete____ I have to commend you for stepping away, momma!! Everyone reacts to a child screaming differently and
imisssleep123456789 Ugh I remember those days. With both kids I decided to always top them off with formula.
