Parents with kids with grommets, is this normal? Her ear has been leaking bad for the last few days. She had this a few weeks ago and doctors gave her antibiotics and it stopped and yesterday nursery called to say it's leaking again. This morning it's been so bad but she's not complaining of any pain just that it's itchy

Tommy has this all the time, he can't have grommets because his eardrums are too thin and scarred, but any leaking needs either oral antibiotics or ear spray, how long have the grommets been in? They usually drop out within 6 months and need redoing x

it could be that the grommets have already come Out, I'd ask the GP for antibiotics and book her with ENT to be reassessed for grommets back in, if you don't want grommets they can give her a 6 week course of preventative antibiotics to see if that helps (these helped Tommy but he was left with hearing loss so got hearing aids) he's recently started getting ear infections again and I will be asking for grommets if his ear drums are thick enough, I'm glad she isn't having pain with them though x

it's always the right ear. Even after surgery and hearing tests they couldn't see the grommet and her hearing was still reduced so am waiting for another test to recheck. I think we may need to go back and see the specialist :( just thought once she had the surgery she would be better
