To think your child is terrified and you find humor in their fear baffles me, and then to post it on the internet to laugh at because people think it's "cute." What is so funny about your child being upset or uncomfortable?
If either of my children ever showed signs of being upset or learly to sit with any dressed up person, I would never force them. And if they were okay and started balling for me, I'd go get them and say "screw the photo" without hesitation. I wouldn't make them wait for me to take a picture before I go comfort them.
I don't know, call me the odd ball I guess.

I’m the same way. My son is terrified of anyone dressed up. This year was the first time he sat on Santa’s lap and the Santa was my Dad’s father in-law so my son wasn’t scared because he recognized his voice. It makes me sad to see him uncomfortable and scared. I can’t do it.

Yep. It weirds my daughter out to go sit on some stranger's lap, so we just never have done it. Plenty of other traditions out there to enjoy.

People thought I was weird when my son was a baby I never took him to see Santa, because he wouldn’t go to anyone he didn’t know without crying 🤷🏻♀️. He took one last year with Santa and my daughter started to cry so I took her and held her for the photo. There is no reason to scare your child.

I just posted basically this same thing. I hateeee it when parents force their kids to sit on Santa’s lap! Who cares about a dump picture! You’re your child’s safety and comfort.

I’ve never taken my son to see Santa. I’ll do it when he understands Christmas and wants to see Santa himself.
