Does anyone live in the US, preferably Texas and pay out of pocket for private health insurance for themselves and husband (And possibly children)? What kind do y'all have? What's the best for someone with Pre-existing conditions? TIA! I know its getting close to the deadline for enrollment but all these dumb ass agents calling my phone from 6am to 10pm! And none of them know wtf they're doing! 🤦 this is the first time in my life that I've had to shop for health insurance during open enrollment and i have NO clue what I'm doing.. The other day a lady called, transferred me to a guy, i spent like an hour answering questions, then at the end of the call he was trying to get me to purchase a plan(try it out) then could cancel and get a refund later🤔 and asked for my FULL social, which i declined to answer! I finally hung up after he repeated himself like 5 times when i would continue asking the same questions, which he wasn't answering 🙄anyways i need help😫

Honestly for me it’s easier to go online and write it all out. I start with all major companies BCBSTX,(what we’ve had the past couple of years) aetna, cigna etc because they have more doctors in their networks so the likelihood of keeping your prexisting drs is easier. While you are going through the process it does ask for your socials if I remember right but I don’t trust people on the phone so I do it all online. But as you go through there’s normally a place that has where you can see if you are eligible for market place pricing. But long story short higher deductibles equals lower payments monthly but more out of pocket in the long run bc it takes longer to hit the deductible. But lower deductibles is more expensive monthly but less out of pocket when you hit your decuctable quicker. We personally don’t get sick often enough nor see specialists so we go for mid range deductibles so we pay less.

You should be able to compare each insurance company online to see what they will cover, how much the deductibles are and payment wise. I get my insurance through work and i always check to see if my doctor is in their network and compare which insurance better suits my family needs

You can go on a site like ehealthinsurance.com and it will give you all of the plan options available.

My cousin lives in Keller and she’s gone through a few things and has had to pay through the marketplace herself so I’ll ask her. I know she pays a few hundred dollars a month for herself and two kids and had to upgrade because it wasn’t enough and hurt her finances bad.

Pre-existing conditions no longer matter under the affordable care act. Just worry about getting affordable coverage with as many speech/OT visits allowed as possible. Hopefully you can keep your doctors. What I did when we were doing research was called everyone and found out what insurance they accepted from the marketplace. That way I was able to add that component to the decision making process. Sadly I got extremely limited all the sudden but at least I knew what was going to happen had we chosen to use the marketplace.

Our health insurance costs almost as much as our rent so we are starting a business and getting insurance that way so we can at least have a little more control and start to write these insane premiums off because Zay is costly. We have spent $5k out of pocket just in deductibles this year alone on top of the premiums. It’s crazy! I hope you find something that works for your family.
