So I mentioned before the teacher told me erin has difficulty reading/writing so I’ve just received a letter saying they’ve given her a coloured overlay and it seems to be helping however I’ve got a bunch of info about Dyslexia and vision so does this mean they think she’s Dyslexic I’m confused! will talk to the teacher Monday, just feel abit like Oh thanks for that 🙄

They do usually use coloured overlays for children with dyslexia. However they should have really spoken to you directly about it before they sent a letter out... 😐 just think of it as at least they are trying to help her and if she is dyslexic then it's best to get an early diagnosis so she gets as much support throughout school xx

Oh yeah of course I appreciate they’ve even picked up on her needing the overlay. It’s more the fact I had no idea it was related to Dyslexia, so to receive a bunch of info about it confused me and I just thought “you could have given me two mins when I picked her up to let me know about the relation between the two things”.

Also the fact Erin gave it to me out of her book bag wasn’t even given to me from an adult xx

I completely understand that, they definitely should have spoken to you. Also the fact it was just a letter that they gave it to Erin to give to you is awful. They definitely should have spoken to you and explained their thoughts to you xx

Yes they usually use different colour paper to help with reading and writing when a child has dyslexia:)
My friend in school was dyslexic, this helped her xx

Awe glad she’s found a colour that works for her :) in my secondary school. There was an option to print work sheets on on pink, blue, yellow paper etc xx

That’s a brilliant idea with the print outs! I’ve seen some overlays online I’m going to buy for home so when she reads here and for homework etc it will make her life easier! I always thought she just wasn’t concentrating due to home being loud with her little brothers !xx

I had one when i was in primary got to secondary n never used it when i should of. Had my eyes tested loads of times turns out i had that im not so bad as ive grown up but i still get my j & g mixed up or b & p allll the time. The words ust to move when i was reading some stuff 😂😂 usually they assess you first before just handing them out which is strange. I had to be pulled out from my class as far as i can remember. Xx
