In many cases, yes. Not everyone can control between diet, pills and exercise. I took two different kinds of insulin a day and checked my BG levels 7 times a day while I was pregnant. Can’t play with GD, I’m actually a diabetic now without symptoms but control it by diet. Do everything by the book!

the problem is that i live in a hotel shelter so its hard the food there nasty

Not unless you can control your sugars with diet. Otherwise, yes, gestational diabetes can be really bad for both you and the baby if not treated.
