For bilingual Mommas, how do you teach your kiddos your second language? Nobody around me speaks Spanish, including hubby, so we only speak English and I’m feeling really guilty that my daughter only knows a few words. I try speaking Spanish to her but it never even lasts the whole day. I just changed the kid’s Netflix language profile so now their fav shows are in Spanish! That’s a plus but I need more tips! TIA 💗

She’s so young. Keep just speaking Spanish to her and she’ll pick it up.

At home we only speak arabic to the kids because they will know english at school. My kids both know english and arabic.. always speak spanish to your kids because they will learn English real quick... also try putting spanish cartoons on

I’ll continue to speak to her Spanish and hopefully she’ll pick it up. Thank you!

I don’t have any tips but I can relate. The only difference is that my daughter is with my mom (she only speaks Spanish) for 8-9 hrs a day while I’m at work and surprisingly her first few words were still in English. I try to speak to her in Spanish as much as possible but I always forget.

That’s a blessing that your mom speaks to her all day in Spanish. Just keep it up at home! I know it’s hard

Same boat. I find it really hard to speak german with my son especially because I'm so used to english and I feel like he understands english more anyways... but from what I hear, try to only speak spanish with your child. I've started saying things in both languages so that my kid knows what I'm saying lol

That’s what I’ve started doing as well. Say it English and then right after repeat it in Spanish. Hopefully that helps!

yes! Especially to get them more familiar with the language and then you could switch over completely. That's my plan too. I've read some German books with my son too and he is picking the words up really quickly but then he mixes them in with his English words 🙄 so now I have to tell him "yes BUT in English this is so and so." lol
