Has anyone ever had to sleep train their baby!? If so, can you give me tips?

Has anyone ever had to sleep train their baby!? If so, can you give me tips?

The pediatrician said that the reason Tatum wakes up so much throughout the night is because he is sleep trained to automatically cry for a bottle when he isn’t even hungry just to go back to sleep.

She told me to sleep train him to sleep through the night without wanting a bottle. I’ve been doing research, but I honestly don’t know where to begin.

#1 Routine routine routine. Do the same thing at the same time everyday. Bath time, play time, walks, naps, etc.

#2 My first was the same way and his ped suggested putting water in his bottle so when he wakes for a bottle he learns it’s not what he wants anyways. It took a few nights of him being really upset but eventually he stopped waking up so frequently.

#3 patience. Sleep training is hard but stick with it!

I used the sleep sense program for my last two kids (my first was an amazing sleeper from the get go). I’m on night 2 with my 7 month old now. The program worked perfectly for my middle child and the baby is taking to it really quickly! Message me if you have any questions!

I was gonna put my 2 cents in but after reading what @motherof3dragons, said I’m curious too! I mean I did the cio method with my daughter she cried for 10 minutes fell asleep and slept the whole night and has been since she was 8 months old. I know not everyone agrees with cio but I tried it with her and it worked plus she didn’t cry like she was dying. But my son, oh man he was a good sleeper up until a month ago.

The sleep sense program is similar to cio. She gives different opinions based on your baby since no two babies are alike! All babies need to cry to learn how to self soothe

makes sense. I did the the cio with my son and he would have cried all night if I let him. Poor dude woke up hoarse the next morning. 😥

I know its already been said, but I'll say it again anyways. My son was breastfed until 15 months and finally started sleeping through the night at 16 months! We first substituted cow milk and then water. Once he figured out it was just water, he didnt wake up anymore. BUT we needed to comfort him a lot at first. He woke up crying and complaining and we just had to hold him (if he let us) and tell him no more milk, water only. The first night was crazy. Then it gets better. Good luck!

I can't give advice about sleep training but my kids have always slept through the night bc of white noise. When I stopped waking them up to eat, they never woke up. I tell all new moms about it bc everyone says I'm luckily when I say theyve always slept good when I'm not lucky, I just simply used white noise for naps and bedtime.
