Just read a post where this lady’s toddler had a short chocking session while eating popcorn. He was fine, but then developed a cough. Days later he had to go to the hospital after developing a fever. He had to have a bronchoscopy done because his chest X Rays didn’t look well. They learned that he had aspirated popcorn into his lungs. The body recognized it as a foreign object and developed puss pockets around it. The inflammation caused him to develop pneumonia In his left lung. He had to undergo a second surgery two days later to make sure they got it all out. So long story short, the Drs told her no child under 5 should have popcorn.. I just Wanted to pass that information along..

Yeah, I’ve read stories on it, too! So dangerous. Thanks for posting this! It always scares me when I see young kids snacking on popcorn.

Of course!!! I definitely wanted to share it because my daughter is definitely still too small for popcorn but I never knew it should be 5 and up for popcorn.. I know my sister gives my niece popcorn and she’s 4 so I definitely need to pass it along to my sister and everyone else!

Ohh my gosh how scary.
Last wk my son chocked & my mom was telling me to keep track of his temp & cough ect.. because of the aspiration. 😳

It didn’t even dawn on me to worry about aspiration after choking for my daughter and now I feel like crap! Makes me so nervous because I know this could’ve easily been my daughter, minus the popcorn..

My ds choked on popcorn twice n now I never let him have any. I felt bad that he's almost 3 n still won't let him but now after reading this I'll definitely wait till 5. So scary!

Yes omg I felt bad looking at the pictures of him. So good thing you’re going to wait until 5 to let your ds eat any more. Better safe than sorry! He has his whole life after 5 to eat popcorn!
