Beginning to think I'm cursed when it comes to childminders!
First Bethany's closed down. Gutted, but found another childminder for Naomi & signed Bethany up to an after school club.
Due back at work in 4 months, so I emailed Naomi's minder to make sure things were still ok - she's replied saying she's closing down, too! She's recommended 2 others, one is full and one can only take her 2 days a week...

Oh no!
I've contacted 4 different childminders this afternoon, 5 if you count my friend who I just went to for a recommendation.
The first one could do 2 days
The second was full
Then the third wanted a retainer, which wouldn't even be deducted against the first month like a deposit - they then tried to justify it saying all minders charge this (not in my experience, they don't)
At this point I asked my friend, who managed to get me a number for a 4th minder who's opening in the new year - and she can take Naomi! Just can't sort out contracts until her registration is through.

We have just had to ask my MIL to do an extra day which great is cheaper but I hate her and she doesn’t do anything with the kids. But hubby doesn’t work away all the time so won’t be a weekly fixture thank god

I feel your pain. My boys closed down and the only other local one reserved me spaces (which I said I would pay for but not use yet), messaged me to say she gave the spaces to someone else
Who can start now 🙄 there is no other childminder able to collect from nursery
