Does anyone pump and breastfeed? What is hour pumping schedule like and how did you establish one with still feeding at the breast? If that makes sense..I’m not ready to give up feeding her at the breast but I need to pump and get a freezer stash going because I need dental work done really bad and she just doesn’t go very long without eating unless she’s asleep and she’s only sleeping if I’m holding her.

I’m feeding on demand so it’s hard for me to set a schedule for pumping (sometimes there’s only 45 minutes between feeds, that’s not enough time to let my body relax between feeds to begin with). Usually I pump first and then nurse. I only get up to an ounce on each side but it’s enough to get some milk saved.
With my second kiddo, when he was in the nicu I pumped everything 3 hours. He was too little to nurse so all I could do to establish my supply was pump.

She comforts nurses like no tomorrow. I had to get her a wubanub because it was getting to be where she was making me have to sit down and comfort nurse her and she could do that for an hour straight. Like she tends to comfort nurse at dinner time and I cannot just sit on the couch for an hour nursing her when I have to make dinner so now she takes a binkie when I can’t cater to her 😭😭 and it helps my anxiety when I’m trying to hold her off for literally 2 minutes while I get my stuff ready to sit down and feed her for 20-30 minutes so I don’t really have the time to pump either but I have to try 😭

When I wanted to slow down my breastfeeding I pumped during the day and breastfed at night. On his usual feeding schedule.
When I wanted to create a stash I would pump and breastfeed if I could. Because I always leaked from the other breast anyway while I breastfed and that’s how I got the most milk. If I couldn’t do that I would pump right after I breastfed on the other breast.

I feed then pump after and pump for a little after nothing comes out to signal that I need more milk. That way my breast is effectively emptied and baby still gets a full tummy.
