First post, firstborn daughter going with my to the first ultrasound tomorrow morning. She doesn't know I'm expecting yet and I'm scared . Not just about having two kids 8 years apart, but in that, she has a half sibling from her father, and she's unfortunately learned by example that her daddy chooses his youngest over her, as he's still trying to make things work with her mother... My daughter gets second fiddle for everything.

I don't want her to resent this baby. Mommy's love, and attention, will have to change to accommodate the babe, but won't change in regards to how much I care for her. I don't want her to spend the next six months to 18 years hating this kid..

Blended families ARE becoming more of a norm these days, but it for sure doesn't make anything easier 😔

I feel like when we tell my SO's daughter at her birthday next month, shell react the same too though... Her mother has a second child, diagnosed with ADNP (however all of his 'symptoms' disappear when he's not with his mother, when hes being cared for by others, nevermind allllllll relate to fetal alcohol syndrome), and she has been essentially put in charge of him. Tells us regularly that her mother expects her to care for this disabled child while she gets high. No, she doesn't say get high, she says 'smokes yuckies in her bedroom'. Yep. Classy 😑😒 his daughter will be 8 next month (our girls are only 6 months apart), her brother is 3...

Im just hoping to make the best of it all. To try and stay positive, and hope both girls take from that. I don't want either of them to feel left out, or replaced 😣 #myfirstpost
