Here’s a visual for you. My little girl is buckled into her car seat correctly. Her straps are over her shoulders, coming from below her shoulders, her CHEST clip is armpit level, and I can't pinch any slack above her shoulders. My little boy is buckled in incorrectly. His CHEST chip is between his belly button and chest, his straps are VERY loose. If we were to get into a car accident he would most likely be ejected from his car seat and flung forward.
If you do not feel confident to flip your child upside down in a 5 point harness, THEY ARE NOT STRAPPED IN CORRECTLY.
It is your obligation as a parent to make sure your tiny people are safe. It is not an opinion. It is an obligation.
And it is the law in Oklahoma to rear face your BABY till 2.

Love this! Where I live the requirement goes by carseat. The child needs to be rear facing until they hit the max height or weight for rear facing carseat.
I shared more for the education on the straps than the position. I believe my state they can’t turn until the age of 2 now or they have to be so heavy but I don’t remember how heavy exactly I just know my daughter probably will be till two rather than weight cause she’s small still so I know she’s not ready.
@coffeebean I see so many people not put the straps on right it drives me crazy! One is a friend of mine, I've brought it up and nothing changes 😔. On the other note my boys are all huge! I can't imagine if I absolutely had to wait until Greyson was 2. At 2 he is the average height and weight of a 3 year old
@countrymusic_mama, lol exactly. Some kids grow faster so it’s until two unless they hit the requirements. My kids are all on the tiny side so I’m sure my youngest will be no different lol
Where I live it’s til the age of 1 but I still have my daughter rear facing as long as possible
@flamingfiremom, I believe where I’m at it’s the age of 2 or they have to weigh so much or something but I can’t remember how much. My daughter turned one in September and I’m definitely thinking she’s gonna be rear facing till two. I highly doubt she will hit the correct weight before that.
@coffeebean, yeah my daughter turned 1 sep too and she’s 29 inches longg but her feet still don’t touch the seat wen she’s sitting in it so I think she will be in it for some time
@flamingfiremom, I personally don’t mind just because I feel it’s safer so as long as she can, she will stay that way lol
son getting out of car seat
So a couple days ago my son started getting himself out of his car seat while we are on the road. He will be 2 years old May 27th. He pushes the chest clip all the way down and pulls his arms and shoulders out of the straps but is still buckled at the waist. Today he did it 4 times, we had to pull over every time. We're having mixed emotions about the new car seat...is it just me or does it seem too loose on her stomach...the straps are tight on her shoulders and the chest clip is right up against her chest BUT the straps are about an inch from her tummy...is that ok ?
is it safe for your baby to sleep in his or her car seats at night? thts the only way my baby will sleep. he hates it any other ways . please comment
I posted a picture of my son in the house in his car seat he had a snow suit jumper on n instead of people admiring his sweet innocent face they wanted to attack the fact that i didn’t adjust his straps yet. I caught a smile n took a pic calm down
