Court question ladies! I got asked by someone and it sparked my interest. If I am the custodial parent with primary custody, and his dad only gets him (court set) 4 hours a week.. I shouldn’t have to tell him I’m advance when I take him out of town for vacation as long as I don’t miss his visits correct? Mind you I don’t recall ever being told to inform him on anything other than medical situations and doctor appointments. I’m just curious, this isn’t coming from my sons father. But I really just can’t remember if anything was said about vacations 🤔

Nope your time is your time he can’t say shit

I would probably just tell him either way. Just to keep things cool between you two but then again I don't know the whole situation.

No as long as it doesn't affect his time but if he had more time than 4 hrs/ week like weekends or weeks throughout the year I would tell just because of common courtesy

Are his four hours a week always on the same days? If not, I'd personally tell him just so he doesn't ask to spend the day with your son only to be told you guys are out of town or wherever you're going for vacation.

Only time I ever have to tell my oldest sons dad is if we go out of state vice versa. And we have to have each other’s permission to take him out of state. But for drs visits and local stuff we never tell each other.

See I was thinking that it’s probably different for out of state. But even then I don’t remember the judge or paperwork saying anything about that! & I was really thorough in court. Do y’all just get each other’s permission out of curtesy for each other or like court ruled that way?
Boymomx4+1girl··
well both kind of because we always say we wanna know if our son is going out of state. It’s more of a common curtesy thing and respect for each other

@boymomx3, okay that makes sense.. for sure. I would want to know when where and what always when it comes to my kid lol. I would definitely do the same!

@steviemariemalm, @massgirl, @bodybycheetos, thank you ladies!! 💗 oh I definitely told him, just making sure i didn’t HAVE to, if that makes sense lol. I made sure to just touch base with him right before we paid for it. But he sucks butt at remembering like dates and stuff, so when he questioned me last night he was a little heated until I SS our messages of us talking about it the first time and reminded him we would be back before his scheduled visit. Then he was totally fine. But my mom was like “well what If you didn’t tell him in the first place?” And I was like “I don’t think I’m like demanded to, but as long as co parenting is going good then I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t?”. Before we were good co parents I was scheduled to go on vacation to California, right after our first court date, where I was named Custodial and he started getting his visits. The fighting about leaving with him got so bad that i cancelled our trip and this is the first one since court was finally over. So I just wanted to make sure. & no it’s always 2 hrs on Wednesday and 2 on Sunday. But I usually give him like 4 or 5 hours on those days

You have to read your court papers. Many custody agreements include needing to have permission from the other parent if you are leaving the state you reside in.

I went back and looked at them, and literally says nothing about it! I’m so stumped. I’ll call the courts and see if they have any info on it. Because even tho we’re not leaving the state for this vacation we are thinking about going to Colorado soon

I have custody set too when we left state I had to let him know but they couldn’t find him so they granted it 🤷🏼♀️to save your own but but out of town is on you
