I understand about people talking your business when you don't want them to. Being a single mom is tough, I remember what it was like holding my little at just a few weeks old knowing I was a single mom, people would just assume my "husband" was at home or work and I got to a point myself where I would say no, I'm a single mom, he's in a while other state. I didn't let people bad mouth him because end of the day that's my baby's father and in my situation he was stepping up, we lived in separate states though so it was hard. I would never bad mouth him though because she needs her relationship with him and I'm not going to taint that.

I get how frustrating it is though.
