Has anyone child ever had cold like symptoms and there eyes are matted shut. Now daughter wont open…

My toddler just went through this. His eyes swelled up one night. I gave him Benadryl than took him to see his pediatrician the next morning. When he woke up the next morning the swelling was still there and so was crustys all over his eye. But his pediatrician told us that all the build up can cause infection in the eyes from the sinuses. He was put on antibiotics.
