Anyone else with small babies? My first born was 6lbs 5oz at birth he was full term and in the 10th-15th percentile. My daughter was born st 37 weeks and 4 days and only weighed 5lbs 8oz she is in the 2nd percentile. She had a check up today at 5 months. We had to wait until our insurance switched over county's to take her to her check up. Today she weighed 10lbs 6oz and still in the 2nd percentile. She's not hitting their curve but they said from her birth weight to now she's consistently gaining weight so that's good and she's really active and healthy and hitting her milestones so they aren't really concerned but will continue to monitor her weight and height at her check ups. Still I feel a little sad that she's so small because all my friends babies that are a month- month in a half younger than her are past her in weight.

All of my children have been in less than 5 percentiles at birth.
40 weeks 5lbs 11oz at birth
29 weeks 2lbs 1oz at birth
35w2d 5lbs 0oz at birth.
I basically live at my children’s pediatrician’s office for weight checks 😭 but they’ve all been healthy and happy. My 29 weeker is the small one but even though he’s probably at the 1 percentile he’s okay. I mean, as long as your child is growing and teaching milestones it’s typically okay. Some kids are just small.

I'm glad it's not just me with small babies. They had my daughter coming in a lot in the first month to make sure she was gaining weight properly because she is breastfeed. She was and at all her appointments I was told she was gaining good weight. Minus the one the time she had a stomach bug. She's definitely active and happy she was smiling at the doctor and rolling from one side to the other and tries to sit up on occasion but hasn't pulled herself all the way up yet. Did you breastfeed your babies or formula?

Both of mine were small. My son had IUGR and had to be born at 37 weeks since he stopped growing. He was 4lbs 13oz. My daughter came on her own at 37weeks 3 days and was 5lbs 10oz. My son is still tiny. He's 3 and just barely in 2T clothing. But he's completely healthy and everything. My daughter is almost four months old now and is already nearly 15lbs. Some kids are just smaller as long as she's growing at a steady rate and her doctor isn't concerned she's just fine. She might hit a growth spurt and just bulk up too. My daughter did soon after she was born.

@aylenrose Yeah I think so. She's just on her own weight curve and that's okay. Try not to worry so much, you're doing your best for her and she's growing just fine!

thanks I will try! My son was formula fed due to him not wanting to latch to the nipple and I think by 5 months he was like 12-13lbs and long and always on the curve so now I feel like I'm failing her for breastfeeding her like maybe I shouldn't be selfish and give her formula so she can gain more weight. 😭

she at the perfect weight for her! And girls are normally slower growing and smaller than boys too, so remember that as well. As long as she's growing steadily she doesn't need any more weight.
