So now supposedly I have to pay late fees for rent and it's only $6 which I'm going to pay but I clearly was calling Thursday and Friday leaving voicemails and walking up there and nobody was there at the office and I go to the office today and she tells me that her daughter was out of the office talking to Residents about papers they need to sign and when her daughter was out of the office she had an assistant there and I asked her why didn't she answer my phone calls or return my calls because I left voicemails and she said that she was on the other line talking to the residents about why they have to sign paperwork which does not make sense at all.
Yesterday two girls from the city came to let us residents know that they will be having a meeting at the nearby park on Thursday and we can meet up with an attorney to talk about our rights as tenants and I called them about the situation and they said that I shouldn't have to pay because she didn't leave any note stating that she was going to be out of town and that there was going to be an assistant in the office, plus supposedly I didn't know this but somebody had stole the rents from the slot box and how was I supposed to know that IF she even had an assistant there in the office that she was to be trusted with my rent?
The girls are going to call the attorney and get back to me a little later today but this is just ridiculous.

When is your rent due.? I always try to communicate when things are gonna be late ASAP. If I get paid the 25 and rent is due the 1st just know I’m calling on the 25th to make arraignments for that reason. I mean if the assistant was out I don’t think they HAVE TO put up a sign and unless the person she had in there covering is an employee also you can’t be upset with her technically that’s not her job to answer phones and call anyone back if she’s not an employee she probably wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place

@mother.of.3, if they have a drop box they don’t have to inform you of anything rent goes in the box and that’s it. I would always keep copies of receipts so if you put in it there and someone steals it at least you have proof. I would take a video stating the date and time and show you putting the rent in the box. It’s really all about covering your ass so if it ever came to court you have proof

yes I have an envelope full of all my receipts from my money orders in order from the first time I paid rent but she closed the Dropbox because they stole from there and I didn't know that until I walked up there, she is supposed to inform us that she's at least going to be out and due to some circumstances she's closing the Dropbox. At least that's what the lady said from the city when I called.

I don't really go out much or talk to people here from all the years of me being here so I don't really know much of what's going on except for what my friend which talks to a lot of people here tells me and she's harassed me for so long and I didn't even know it until my friend brought it up to me that that is harassment and I'm kind of the type where I don't want any confrontation especially from my landlord so I kind of just pay my rent and go back home which is my fault but she told me that if she was in there with me or if anybody else does she talks to was in there with me she wouldn't have said that she had an assistant.
