Having a breastfed newborn is tough.
Having a breastfed newborn is tough.
By Elliott’s age now, Aarem was already being formula fed, which meant I could have someone help me feed him and I didn’t have to wake up every 2ish hours to feed him or pump.
Oliver had a 7 week nicu stay, which meant I had 7 weeks to be a slave to a pump, but if I needed the extra sleep I could sleep through a pumping session and I didn’t have to wake up to change a baby every couple hours. By the time he came home from the nicu he was on an every 3 hour feeding schedule which allowed for me to get some sleep between feeds.
I should be sleeping since Elliott is sleeping. 😭
On another note, we had a weight check today and he is 5lbs either 3 or 4oz- can’t really find a reliable conversion site but that means he has surpassed his birth weight! (Only took 3 weeks to do it!). I’m so excited though. I’m glad that the mama milk is making him grow!

It’s hard but it’s worth it for your baby and it’s only temporary! Try to get help during the day so you can nap. It’ll get easier once he’s a little older. Right now he’s trying to boost up his weight which means constant nursing.
