Breastfeeding mommy’s... my daughter will be 1 in November. I love breastfeeding 🤱🏽 but I am over it! She uses me as a pacifier and still nurses 3,4 times at night, won’t take a bottle neither and barely uses a sippy cup (give it to her everyday)!! How did you wean?

#mombassadorchat Happy World Breastfeeding Week! Please share your breastfeeding stories and tips! Hi everyone! @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom here. For today's chat we're going to talk about breastfeeding and pumping in honor of World Breastfeeding Week! Both can seem complicated or stressful, but remember you have lots of support here! With my first son I had things going against us for breastfeeding. I wish I knew back when he was younger that we could have still tried! With my second son I was determined to breastfeed, and even though he was born 11 weeks early I wasn't going to let that stop us from trying to breastfeed! For 7 weeks I pumped every 2 1/2-3 hours on the dot to establish and maintain my milk supply. When your little one is born early they usually need time to master sucking, swallowing, and breathing so I wasn't able to nurse right away. When my son was 33 weeks gestational (so 4 weeks old) we were finally able to latch on, and he did great! By 36 weeks gestational we had successfully started breastfeeding, and today marks 21 months of actual at-breast breastfeeding for us! I am passionate in trying to help moms-to-be and moms with breastfeeding and/or pumping, but I support moms who choose not to or for other reasons cannot breastfeed. Remember, I mentioned I didn't breastfeed my first son. I understand both sides. Breastfeeding isn't always easy, but I believe it's at least worth trying! I got my free medela breast pump today ! Does anybody know if using it for nipple stimulation will help !?! I’m not breastfeeding .

Cut out night feedings first. I did it cold turkey. But had to get up and hand pump for like two nights u til my boobs adjusted. At 11 months I get on a strict nursing schedule of 5 times a day (morning, before bed and 3 times in between). Then I’ll cut out one session a week, starting with one that’s closest to a meal, and will probably save the morning session for last to go. When I did this with my toddler, I would offer a small snack in place of a nursing session like a piece of cheese or something . You can also offer cows milk in a sippy in place of a nursing session. She probably won’t like it for a while if all she is used to is BM but after a few weeks she will get used to it.

@saleena, yes but it takes a few nights. With the method I did, I would wait intervals before going into her room and rub her back and shush her and eventually she would fall asleep. After a while she figures out I don’t pick her up and she also learns to fall asleep on her own and now she doesn’t cry or if she does she only cries a minute and then falls asleep. If you look up Ferber method you can find more info. But there are also other sleep training methods that are gentler. I’m just a rip the bandaid off kind of person lol. It’s a dramatic change but it works the quickest. Some people just cut down on nursing sessions slowly. It didn’t work for me because she would scream her head off h til I gave in and nursed her
