Probably because there are not as much of the pressure for it these days and also, too much doubt maybe?
Trust and or insecurities are broken so often. Media playing a role in knowing what the masses does, it sure gives you more input but for the most part, many still marry either timeline of their lives.
Plus a handful that just do not feel the need to go through such ceremony.
To each their own. I got married for the first time at 35 lol. I had personal fears myself and parents divorced when I was really young. My father remarried and is happy. My mother remarried 4x and not sure if she is happy. I was never one to dream of being married or to wear a wedding dress until I met my DH.
I personally refuse to marry due to the risk of an affair. I've been cheated on too many times in life to risk that shit. If someone cheats I want to be able to leave the relationship without a huge fight and the lengthy shit to divorce.
Some people just don't believe in it and some people just don't see it as important.
I was married to my 1st son’s father at 18 &I divorced him at 22 yrs old ,The man I have my other 2 son’s with we have been together 18 yrs and not married on a piece of paper
For my SO and myself, we have no faith in the marriage business. It's just a society expectation.
His parents HATE each other and only stayed for the kids. It massively fucked them up.
My mom is on her 6th husband. Growing up, it taught me that marriage doesn't mean anything besides a piece of paper. She only marries the guys so she can feel morally secure about screwing them, and not "live in sin"
If I had known when i got married what I know now I wouldnt have gotten married. I can't use my husband as a reference for my pistol permit, if we need financial help we can't get it bc he makes to much (every last dime he makes is going to student loans and the mortgage), we are screwed on my student loans bc they base payment of taxes.

A big chunk of people think it’s a waste of time. And a lot of doubt stops them
