So we gave the current place we are living a 30 day notice on the 20th that we would be moving out and technically we won’t even be here that long but I got the rent bill today and they are making us pay for the whole month of October even though we aren’t staying here the whole month of October. I called the landlord and he said they can’t “prorate” us for the days we won’t be here. I don’t mind paying them something but I don’t think we should have to pay the whole 30 days if we already paid for September and are moving out probably the first week of October. My mom said we should only have to pay $475 for the days our stuff or us would still be in the house. I told them in the notice we’d be out on the 20th of October and I wrote the notice and gave it to them on the 20th of December
Can u not get out this week? That would be the only way to get out of paying for October...most real estate places are like this
We will be out the 27th but they wanted a 30 day notice and they already gave us the rent bill
@lifewithlynnieandwill88, my husband wants to tell them to keep the security deposit lol
It’s pretty standard to pay the whole month. It’s not like they could find someone to start renting in the middle of the month like that.
It’s a trailer park lol I hate saying that because the way they are portrayed but we are finally moving into a house and they already have ads on Craigslist for their other homes
Most leases run until last day of the month. Unless you were on a week to week lease or something this is standard practice.
Interesting. I’ve always gotten my rent prorated down to the day when I moved too. I’ve never been told that one. Check your local and state rent control laws before you agree.
I called the corporate office and they said it’s their policy and they can’t prorate for us
You do have to pay the whole month. It's standard
I think you should pay the whole month, you’d be there 90% of the month. That’s only fair 😬
Technically we’d be out by Friday but we had to give a 30 day notice because they demand one. We didn’t know we were getting it until Friday
This is my first time being on a lease. I usually just lived with family before I had kids and met my husband
Usually if you aren't out before the new month begins you have to pay for that month as well as much as it sucks.
Well 10 more days and your basically there for the whole month . It makes sense
We are going to be in the new place by Friday we didn’t even know we were gonna get this place until last Friday
need suggestions....
So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
No one cares about what you got for Valentine’s Day I promise. We won’t miss out if you didn’t post pictures and statuses all day
I find it pretty hilarious how people who have shown their true colors on social media snake away, delete the posts that outed them and come back on social media like nothing happened. Why do that, you outed yourself, so stay out. We still see you boo boo...
Well. Possibly moving via greyhound.
I just found out my husband didn't come up with his half of the rent and I was served an eviction notice today. We have 5 days to find a way to pay and 10 days to move out. Rent was due yesterday. If I can't figure this out my parents are going to book me a greyhound to move back to medicine hat with my daughter. Its an 8 hour ride. Its going to be extremely difficult as I'll have to leave lots of my belongings behind and will be starting from scratch compl...
i’m honestly so upset. today was my boyfriend & i’s anniversary & i thought we would spend the whole day together but he decided to leave to go be with his friends. am i selfish for wanting him the whole day? :/
We broke a lease and all they did was keep our security deposit.
