So I posted a few weeks ago I had bleeding and having issues and they thought I had been pregnant with twins and lost one

The very next week I get a call at work my mom and dad had taken my kids to their WIC appointment for me and my 17 month old passed so they said you should take her to the er my babies hemoglobin was 2.9 I almost had a heart attack what do you mean 2.9 thats basically empty

I had scheduled an appointment earlier in the week because she was so tired and I was frustrated with all her vomiting they kept saying she was lactose intolerant so we had switched to lactose free milk and was still getting sick and catching virus after virus well this fainting episode happened before the appointment

Amora was life flighted to children's Mercy

The feeling in my chest driving down the highway looking up and seeing a helicopter in the distance knowing my baby was on there alone probably scared was heartbreaking

We finally got there this kid is playing with nurses and students like she's fine

They ended up doing 3 blood transfusions to get her up to 9 which is still low but that's what they sent us home at

Anemia runs in my family on both my mother and father's side

I'm anemic but I've never been that low in my life they started her on liquid iron (it smells like metal) and they decreased her milk because calcium blocks the ansorbtion of iron (this is one pissed off baby)

But let me tell u this kid has more energy than ever she has warm feet and hands

She actually looks like she's got some color (someone has asked if she was albino in the past)

she hasn't had her allergy medication since her transfusions

No vomiting

It's too soon to say but I expect a decrease in colds and viruses this year as well

That was the biggest scare of my life I can't stop hugging and kissing her and telling her I love her

Also I have an appointment scheduled for her sister to get her labs checked and best believe this baby will have their labs done too

This mama isn't playing

So don't be afraid to get a second opinion don't get me wrong their doctor is amazing but no one is perfect I live in a small town with no pediatricians just on and family doctor's and I'm thinking about just sucking it up and making the trips to the city to see a pediatrician

Anyone else with anemic kids with meal suggestions or any sort of advice to help keep her hemoglobin at a healthy level
