i have alarms on my phone set for every 2 hours for breast feeding my babygirl. she actually latches good now and will feed for 10 to 15cmins witch is a HUGE improvement. but should i also be pumping after feedings every 2 hours? and i know i have to drink water to stay hydrated but om also told that eating food regularly helps? idk i just need to know whats true and whats a wives tale and was also wondering what foods and or drinks help breast milk volume etc other than water. thanks ladies. This is the 1st real attempt at breast feeding i have ever really made. i have tried with my previous kids but not real hard cuz it wasnt a big deal or super important to me but solara being a 35 week preemie means that breast milk will help her so much more and i want to do the best i can for her

Pumping before 6 weeks can cause a huge oversupply and be very painful. If she is latching every time, there’s no need to pump right now. Lots of water, a well balanced diet and continue your prenatal. You want to feed on demand, but at this age I would still attempt every 2-3 hours. Breastmilk is all supply and demand. She will soon go through a growth spurt and want to feed very very often. This is how she builds your supply up to meet her needs. The more she’s nursing, the more your body will produce in turn. It’s not really doable to be on a schedule with nursing this early on. I only say this so you know that it’s normal and perfectly ok for this to happen. Any other questions you may have, feel free to message me. Breastfeeding is kinda my thing. Lol

Oatmeal will definitely help your supply! I initially pumped after she fed to build my supply up for when she was older and ate more during feedings. It worked. I only did about ten minutes on each boob. My daughter wasn't a premmie so I just fed her every 3 hours and around a month she switched over to being fed on demand. After about 3 months she went back to a schedule because I went back to work and school. Hang in there! You and her will get the hang of it in no time.

I love that you’re willing to make the effort of giving your child the best milk ever! I’ve drank oat milk, ate oatmeal, drank body armour, drank mother’s milk, drank water... And breastfeeding WILL DEFINITELY make you eat more. You need the calories anyways, making milk is exhausting.
