So 2wks and 3 days into my breastfeeding journey and it's been a roller coaster of emotions and experiences....but the good news is that she's latching better but even after she eats for 15-40mins she's still hungry so I give her a bottle and she's still hungry! 😔 what am I doing wrong?!
She’s cluster feeding while going through a growth spurt 100% normal. Breastfeeding is just as much for comfort and regulation and getting to know you as it is for nutrition. Let her latch as much as you both can! In a little while it will slow down. Don’t worry about bottles yet
@lizibear84 why? I know that it's nipple cream but what exactly does it do?
@armywife72515, it helps prevent cracking and heals existing cracks. It’s also antibacterial and a lubricant.
@lizibear84 I did use it to help with cracking
Totally normal. Breastmilk is processed quicker than formula so babies tend to feed more often. The more you offer the breast the quicker your supply will regulate. If you can, cut out the formula feed and put her back on the breast. It definitely feels like sometimes all you do is feed but it sorts itself out over time.
Yeah it does feel like I'm always feeding her but I am trying to give her more milk than formula. She's had 3 bottles of milk 6.5oz and 3 bottles of formula 4oz
She’s trying to regulate your supply. The first few weeks are like that. If you give her a bottle it may impact your production
I let her nurse first and if she's still hungry then I give her a bottle
My baby is still making smacking noises so I know he's still hungry. but I need a break my boobs hurt so bad
why am i so hungry
Athena is depleteing my milk and she's still hungry. I tried formula and she drank some then got mad and tried going for my boob again.
so hungry what should I eat ..nothing sounds good but I am hungry
So threw up the brew but still having some contractions. I suppose it will help dilation.
Sigh so I guess my appointment for Friday to get monitoring is still on .
I hope my fluids stay consistent.
Yes totally normal they cluster feed when they are growing which is normal. Breastmilk digests faster. Sapphire cluster fed and was constantly on me. She grew fine and would slow down when she got thru her growth. They also nurse from comfort at times as well.
If you are really worried I'd talk to a LC or ur ped about doing a weighted feed to make sure she is getting enough
