What age did you mommies let your child cut things like sandwich or vegetables and stuff with a knife ? I always…

My oldest is 7 and we have recently started teaching her how to use a butter knife for small things and spreading butter and what not. No steak knifes or cutting into meat like that where they can easily slip. But we also have been letting her try to pour her own milk because she’s been asking. So I take that as a sign she’s ready to start trying. Same with the knife. She does really well with it and neither of my kids are the type to mess around with it. She takes it as serious as if it was a scalpel she’s holding lol. Maybe even start with a plastic butter knife so it’s real dull and damn near impossible to get cut on. Idk if there’s a technical age but this is what we did. I won’t set an age to it though because my middle daughter might try it before her sister just because she’s ahead of her age a lot. But that’s just my opinion on it. As far as using a sharper knife to cut her own meat and what not then I’d probably say closer to around 10.

My 8 year old cuts up some stuff now. Even my almost 5 year old does sometimes. But we have kids knives that they use. Something similar to these

Mine is 9 just going on 10 in Feb and we are practicing she's pretty good at using it. I was Hella nervous until I watched over her doing it then I realized how big she's getting and got proud/ sad lol
