I would never get one for a few different reasons. I can't even stand looking at that picture. The thought of getting that stuck in my back freaks me the hell out!
I wanted to do natural but the nurses ignored me when I told them it was getting hard for me to breathe. No one cared that I was struggling so I said it's either pass out and possibly miss the birth/die or get an epidural to calm everything down. My cousin got oxygen when she said the same thing and had 2 natural births so I'm hoping I can do that next time
I honestly thank god for my epidural but everyone's body is different. My contractions were extremely strong and didn't come in intervals. It felt like they just never stopped. I blacked out for a good 4 hours until I was being sat up for my epidural. Baby's heart beat even started dropping because we couldn't catch a break between contractions. It was amazing and I finally started heaving normal contractions, I took a nap, and I dilated to a 10 like 5 hours after it was placed. Baby was out about 30 minutes later. Minimal tearing and easy recovery. It's not for everyone but just for the first time mom's reading this, do what feels best for you. 🙏🏻
What an overgeneralization. I’m in my 40’s and don’t have back pain from my epidural. This post doesn’t do anything to help first time mothers that are worried about the possibility of needing an epidural. I appreciate the sentiment behind this - praising all mothers for what we go through to bring children into the world. But there’s other ways to do that than fear mongering epidurals.
I never had the choice of getting an epidural because the hospital I delivered at doesn’t even offer epidurals just pain meds thru your IV. But my labor was never bad enough to even need an epidural.

Girl SAME! I got the epidural with my first and never again. I hated how I felt with it and afterwards
