What Happened on September 11, 2001?
On this day... 18 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

I still remember this day. It was on a Tuesday morning.
🤧 I saw it with my very own eyes on my roof top and I was beside myself.
I just could not stop crying and yelling “Omg all of those people!” I can not even watch the live footages. I can still see the building glass crinckling in the light when the tower fell. I could not believe my eyes. I remember saying how did this even happen? And why? Then not long after, the second building went down.
My heart sinks and sends me in a panic when I see images or talk about that horrific day. My brother still has one photo of the Tower when it fell (the second tower falling).
That day is a stain in my mind. The whole city just kind of paused in shock.
Never forget❤️
God bless them all.

I was in junior high 6th grade actually in home room we watched as it happened on the news, then the school buses came back and escorted us home. I still remember it like it was yesterday. My mom was actually supposed to fly out to New York that same day to go to the NYSE as she worked for the Chicago Stock Exchange (little different) but decided last minute not to go. She always told us kids she was grateful she canceled.

@jenx, it was terrible. I saw it from Brooklyn on my roof top. I was 21 at the time.

I will never forget that morning. It was like watching a horror movie but it was real. My heart broke into a million pieces such a tragic day 💔

Agreed. I remember listening to the news and them playing the messages that loved ones left for people while they were trapped, saying goodbye before the tower fell. It really shattered a lot of our notions about safety and security.

I'll never forget that day, I was in the 6th grade and the teachers were running around whispering in panic and then it came over the announcements and all we did was watch the news in classes. 💔

I was also in 6th grade and we had just gotten to school literally sat down and was always watched the news in the morning and we literally just watched unfold and then they said they were sending everyone back home and I don’t even live in New York I just hit this whole world so hard no one knew what to do.

I was in 9th grade and my friend came in late and she told me about it and we told the teacher and after that we were all moved into the auditorium to watch the news because it was a major historical event and we needed to be aware. I don’t think I will ever forget that day.

I’ll never forget it. I was in 2nd grade and I remember the planes hitting and of course I didn’t know exactly what was going on. I thought it was an accident until my parents told me when we got home from school that day. Such a sad day. 😭
