It was important to me that my husband, myself, and our child all have the same last name. Plus, my husband has a really cool last name.

This post is only for people who kept their last name duh. Now you don’t have your own identity.

It was important for me personally to take his last name. I’m fairly traditional in that sense. But also the last name I took was hyphenated...so you enjoy that shit. One of these days I’ll go through the to process get rid of this stupid hyphen.

Been married going on 6 years now and I’ve yet to legally change my last name lol I want to change it because any time we’re out at the doctors office or a school people assume that my husband is mr. Gonzalez and I have to explain the whole “haven’t been able to change my last name”. It’s just annoying 😆

I didn't in my first marriage but ended up taking it in the divorce actually. I just got married 3 weeks ago and still haven't changed my name even though I filled out paperwork to

I dropped my last name and took my husbands, now we all have the same last name. When you get married you become one so it’s makes sense at least to me to take his name. It doesn’t mean you loose anything, you’re still your own person and individual. But no everyone shares the same idea.

My husband has an awesome last name and mine was a Polish nightmare no one could ever pronounce or spell correctly. It was a total win for me. And he's cute. That helped, too.

It’s important to some people. It doesn’t really bother me in my life.

@joselin.salazar47, her son isn’t his so he said he wanted to take their last name so her son didn’t have to hyphenate his name or feel he has to take his last name if he chose to when he got older, it was really sweet!

I think it's just so traditionally rooted that it hasn't changed. When gender roles were man over woman. But I love my partner and I want us to truly join our lives so I'll be hyphenating when the time comes 🥰

jbeans24.45

Jessie

Same. Not taking it would cause many issues but I am hyphenating it

massgirl

Mandy

@joselin.salazar47 isn't that the same thing though. By hyphenating it still changes your last name. In a lot of professional settings you only end up going by one name; so what's the point

harleyquinn13

I was always taught it was the becoming of one. 🤷‍♀️ to each their own.

@littleonemorning, this is aiming to people who didn’t take their spouse last name. Go away

harleyquinn13

@joselin.salazar47, no boo. you literally said, “what’s the point” Then stated that by taking someone last name you lose your identity.

How does that even make sense? I told you the point. 🤷‍♀️

@joselin.salazar47, “go away?” Um. Again, read your status. You asked a question in a public forum. I answered.
