Is what we’re doing okay? Currently for Harrison’s naps during the day (he needs like 3 of them still!) we have to push him in his pram and use white noise the whole time so he’ll sleep. At night it’s really just a case of he lays on the sofa with us and we put him in his cot when he falls asleep. We’ve never been able to just put him in his cot and let him fall asleep on his own as it just doesn’t work. We’ve tried so many times to get him to settle on his own which usually ends in us being up all night with him as he refuses to do it. I have looked through so many books/websites/YouTube videos and tried everything but it doesn’t work. I don’t mind that he only naps in his pram and I don’t mind him being on the sofa till he falls asleep either but is this okay? Or should we be doing it differently? Even when he stays over at his grandparents these are the only two ways they can get him to sleep too.

U just need to do what works best for ur family. Being up all night with him being upset isn’t worth the fight. Have u spoken to the Health Visitor about it? We have a strict routine as it isn’t worth the battle even if it’s ten minutes later as our boy then fights sleep and screams likes there’s no tomorrow!

No it’s usually not worth it. My partner usually has to get up for work at 4am so being up all night with him is not ideal. I did but she said wait till he’s drowsy but not asleep and put him in but as soon as I do that he just becomes more awake and gets upset🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t really do routines for baby because they have so many different developmental leaps and growth spurts that it makes their sleeping out of whack xx

@kathleenc, That’s ok I know it can be hard work and you get little you time but the leaps don’t last too long!

Where I don’t really have a routine with the baby I don’t notice leaps as much and if he is abit fussy I check the app and I’m like ohhh okay I see you 😂I have a basic routine which is dinner bath and then bed for all kids but if baby is restless I let him crawl around and he adventually starts rubbing his eyes xx

@erincharlieconor, I usually do the same with Harrison. I just wait till he starts rubbing his eyes then I lay on the sofa with him till he falls asleep then my partner puts him in his cot lol xx

It may be harder for you to get him into better routine when he is older but at the end of the day you all need your rest so just do what is easiest for you all right now and cross those new roads when you come it it 😂 he will be ready when he is ready at the end of the day not worth stressing all of you, I know exactly the routine I want for my kids but it's easier said than done haha I tell myself I will get their eventually 😂😂

Yeah I keep telling myself he’ll grow out of it eventually😩😂 I do worry he won’t and we’ll have a hard time when he’s a bit older but at the end of the day we all need our sleep or the next day will just be awful for everyone so we just give in and do it how he wants it done😩

We do try but it just get the point when we’re like he needs to sleep and so do we so we just end up going back to what he wants😩 He falls asleep on the couch and we move him into his cot and when he’s napping in his pram I watch him on the baby monitor so he’s always safe and being watched. xx

I have been reading more and more research that they don’t sleep in particular patterns until 2-2.5 (I know some babies will be different) I say go with what works for you. We have tried to ride out every sleep regression with hamish but stuck to a routine from about three months old. He’s 2.5 now and sleeps from 6.45 - 6 very odd occasion he wakes in the night but I think it’s bad dreams

@kathleenc, hamish is driving me insane with tantrums just now but I know he knows his bedtime routine and goes down by himself like clockwork. We have cuddled him in and carried him through, lay with him and ninja out the bed. Co slept when he was older mainly out of exhaustion. It took us a long time but have faith a strict routine will work!

I get moaned at being too much when it comes to bedtime routine by my mum because I refuse to keep him up late

@casey19, Yeah my mum is the same really she just tells me to let him do his own thing and go with the flow but I do stick to the night time routine and he doesn’t stay up late it’s just he prefers to fall asleep with us rather than on his own. He usually is up later right into the early hours if we’re trying to get him to settle himself😩 I love the name Hamish by the way💙

It could be that he just got into the habit of being pushed in a pram to sleep hun?

It’s like when you rock babies to sleep in your arms, its then the only thing that they want you to do lol xx

Yeah I think he’s stuck in that habit. We moved house and he’s been rocked in his pram since then. We’ve tried to break it but nothing’s worked. Like i said I don’t mind it but some have said it’s a bad habit and he should be napping in his cot only😕

@kathleenc, I think it’s what works best for you and him hun :) if it doesn’t bother you and works fine then carry on :)

But it might be an issue when he starts nursery etc? That’s my only thought xx

@beebeejgill, I was kind of hoping by then he’d just grow out of it but I don’t know if that’s just wishful thinking lol xx

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

So mamas I need advice. We take our son to the gym with us and they watch him in their kid care. Well this will be the third time that we’ve gotten called in there to get him because he’s supposedly doing something we’ve never seen or heard of him doing. When I went in there, the girl was holding him, he was in tears and so happy to see me and wanted me to pick him up. I told her I wanted to see him doing what he was supposedly doing. He went on to play with a toy nicely so I told him to come to me, picked him up and signed him out. While my man was still working out, I walked straight up to the general manager and told him I wanted to speak with him in his office. We reviewed the cameras together and my son was IN FACT not doing anything wrong but playing and she grabbed him by his arm for NO REASON and slammed him on the ground and he was on the ground for a good minute before getting back up. Right then and there was when we were called to come get him because he was supposedly throwing heavy toys at kids (which he never does). The manager apologized and then told us he would talk to her... what should we do?
