Any moms with gestational diabetes that had to be induced early because of it? They’re treating me as though I have gestational diabetes, but I’m not having to be medicated for it and my levels are good when I check them.
I had GD with my daughter and I was just diet controlled. Had to do pokes 4 times a day and record my eating and eat specific amounts of cans of course but no insulin or anything else. My dr wouldn’t let me go past 40w really so she was going to induce me the day after my due date. Thankfully it wasn’t needed as I had my daughter at 38+2 but they typically don’t like to let moms with GD go past 40w from my experience and seeing what other moms in the FB GD groups I was in were saying. They did a final ultrasound for me at 37+5 and she weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces they said and she was born 6 and 13. I am glad I didn’t end up having to make the decision to induce though!
@gecko_mom, well I only do two checks now 2 hr after breakfast/lunch and then 2 hr after dinner, all of my previous fasting ones were all in great range so I guess that’s why she said I could switch to twice daily instead. My cutoff according to her is 120 though not 140, but I’ve very seldom gone over that number as well.
@raisingradicks15, Hmm. How long has it been since you checked your fasting numbers? My food numbers were almost always good but my fasting ones kept inching up the further into pregnancy I got. Surprised that isnone of the ones she let you drop. 🤣
@gecko_mom, I haven’t checked my fasting numbers in a couple of weeks but I’ve been feeling fine, before I would get bad headaches and weak and now I do pretty good without all that.
I had GD diet controlled, no medication with my second child. I wasn’t induced, she came on her own at 39+5. She was 9lbs even, my smallest child but only one I had GD with. You can ask them not to induce you if everything is ok, all they can say is no.
Well they were going to schedule an induction with my first pregnancy just bc my doctor was gonna be out of town for a funeral and I was like uhm no, just bc you’re not gonna be here doesn’t mean you can just decide when to make me give birth lol So I ended up denying it afterwards and gave birth before she would be gone anyways. I’m hoping this one isn’t any bigger than my first, he was 8lb 7oz, but really I just hope we stay under the 9lb mark cause my son was hard enough 😂
@bsr2016, Haha guess we shall see. I feel pain much easier with this pregnancy than I ever did with my first so it constantly feels like she’s gonna fall out and I’ve already had some contractions off and on so I think she’s gonna make an early appearance but I also thought my son would and he went 40w 1d lol
Yes ! I had it with my daughter(whole 9 yards - they changed my diet, had me pricking fingers and logging levels , put me on glyburide(I think - this was years ago) and came in weekly to be on the monitor.
They had me induced at 39 weeks “so she wouldn’t get too big” and let me tell you it was THE WORST .. the contractions came on too strong and too fast. By the time they did the epidural it didn’t even work so they took it out and basically said “oops sorry” I turned on my side and shut my eyes and screamed for soooo many hours til a nurse walked in and told me to stop bc I was scaring the lady next door. My body started pushing before I was dilated enough but my dr didn’t believe me and literally got mad and said it’s too early to push and I was like I literally can’t stop it my body is just doing it ! So she got mad and sends the midwife in who let me push while she basically kept her fingers in checking. Then boom baby time and I was so exhausted I kept blacking out with each push. Got her head out and felt like I couldn’t keep going. Blacked out again came too and she was cutting me and sticking her arms in me to pull my baby out. She looked at the nurse and called some type of code and literally about 10 more nurses came in and surrounded my baby . I was so out of it but I remember I started crying cause I heard them say she had been out to long without air . They eventually got her to breath and that bs was over lol I almost choked on a cheeseburger they brought me while they were cleaning her up. I will NEVER be induced again unless it will hurt my baby not to cause that was straight up bs !!
She wasn’t even that big she was 7.14
WOW that sounds super crazy intense. My son was born 8lb 7oz full 40 weeks and I got him out just fine other than them pumping with pitocin to make me finish dilating after I specifically told them no but they didn’t listen, it was painful I could feel the contractions through the epidural and I felt so sick. Then my sons heart rate dropped unexpectedly so I had all these nurses gathered around me flipping me and touching me trying to get his heart rate up and none of them were telling me what was going on then my fiancé ran off to the bathroom bc he didn’t want me to see him cry bc he was so worried too, it sucked, but I really don’t want to be induced, I hope she just comes on her own like my son did, but I have my measurement ultrasound Thursday so I guess I’ll see what they say.
@raisingradicks15, girl when I tell you it was the worst lol I was screaming bloody murder cussing up a storm (and I don’t cuss or yell in front of / at strangers ) I was like “just do a god damn c section I can’t fucking do it I want a fucking c section NOW I’m telling I’m about to give out “ 🤦🏼♀️😂 and my baby daddy did the same thing !! I was like “where TF DID YOU GO?!” Yours sounds like it was just about as unpleasant as mine lol crazy we go through it but it’s so worth it we will do it all over again
@kes253, haha exactly I wouldn’t change it for the world it’s just such an unpleasant thing at times. Like I just wanna know beforehand that everything will be okay.
Yes. Both times at 39weeks because I had to be medicated at the end. BUT my water broke the morning before I was to be induced with my second, so I never had to be. Most likely if I didn’t need the medication I wouldn’t have had to been. The last few weeks my body goes crazy.
