I would keep him rear facing for a WHILE still. If he's maxed out the height/weight for rear facing in his existing seat, I'd go get a new one, rear facing, with higher limits. My son is super tall for his age and was able to rear face til well after 3.

You need to look up the laws for your state. For most states tho they have to stay rear facing until 2.

I would continue rear facing until at least 2 even though he meets your states requirements at 1. They're working on changing the laws in most places because it can cause a lot of damage otherwise. Their bones are not strong enough to handle such an impact forward facing. Rearfacing will absorb a lot more of the impact and keep your babes head, neck and spine supported.

@taylorsmommy, no he’s a year Friday and 21 lbs rn he’s in a 4 in 1 car seat it can be infant or sits up higher so

@paxtonandkorasmomma, so he would have to meet the car seats forward facing requirements they should be on the car seat or you can search the manual. If he looks squished try adjusting the seat if you can. My daughters seat changes to 8 rear facing positions as she grows I plan on keeping her rear till 4 she’s about 28in long

@paxtonandkorasmomma, you could help him cross his legs if he’s willing, that’s what my daughter does in her carseat to keep her legs comfy.

LEGALLY, in most states, they HAVE to be rear facing til 2. I mean, Idk how that works... they ask for birth certificates when you're pulled over or??? Idk but it IS what the law is in most places...I'm pretty sure. Lol! I'll double check this real quick!
