Until I became a mother, I never knew someone else’s Birthday could be so important to me. Such a joyous occasion, filled with pride but also for me a deep sadness. A sadness that babies really don’t keep. That our beautiful children grow so quickly, the days and weeks and months slipping through our fingers so quickly no matter how desperately we try to hold onto them. I want my daughter to grow big and strong, and stay a baby forever. I wish I could freeze time right now, and just enjoy 2 for a few years.
I remember holding her the day after she was born and saying just wait we will blink and she will she will be 1” And I was right. Yesterday she was born, and today she is 1 and tommrow she will be 2.
While I enjoy watching her enjoy her party tomorrow there will be a sadness behind. I'm going to blink and next I know she will be 3!

I truly understand. Funny twist is that before having dd, I did not even care about my own birthdays. No cakes, no gatherings, no special outings really.
Dd really felt and expressed to me that it too was a special day as well so now I celebrate. We both have birthdays on the same week.
All of these precious milestones are such joys.
We make big deals about these special moments, whether we are turning 1 or 30! Does not matter the age. How can you be too old to have and celebrate your birthday?🤣

It is a bittersweet journey for sure. We look forward to the firsts, but you never know until it passes that something was the last. The last bottle or breastfeed, the last diaper, the last time you're strong or tall enough to carry them upstairs. It's just the last one suddenly, because they grew up. They turn into the coolest little people, but you are so right, babies don't keep, and I wish they would, just a little longer. Enjoy your sweet girl's special day!

I understand what you mean my daughter is 7 now and my family always yell at me saying you dont have to go big for her birthday she wont remember it but I tell them I will and I will tell her about every single one if I have to and cry while I do it because I know I just wish she was small again so I can just hold her and never let go

Yes! I do it cuz I'll remember it and she will have pics to look back on as well. These arnt just moments for her but moments for us as well as we watch them enjoy their party
