My sister wrote a check for her rent on July 1st which the landlord did not deposit until 3+ weeks later. She said she had paid some bills so by the time he deposited the check, there wasn't enough money in her account to cover the full amount of the check. He got charged a fee for the bounced check. Who's responsible for that fee? I say the landlord is because he should have deposited the check in a timely manner.
Her. But i hate when people do wait for ever so I refuse to write personal checks. I pay with a money order so they are guarenteed their funds.
@motheroffive34 @jennatess @ekko thank you ladies for your input. 💙 also, thanks to @phoebesmommy for the info. I had no idea checks were valid for up to 6 months.
Sure! I know, me either lol I googled it. Technically they don’t even have an expiration date.
She is. Checks are good for 90-180 days in most cases. She wasn’t being responsible and keeping track of her account balance.
@jennatess, Ahh I hate when it takes forever for a check to clear! I only write one now once a month for daycare but sometimes it takes a week or two before it clears and I just have that extra money hanging out in there! I have to remind my husband “it looks like we have an extra $___ in there but we don’t!”
@ekko, exactly! Haha. I’m happy my property management has an online paying system for rent.
@jennatess I do too. I write down every time I spend money or write a check that way I never run into that problem. I was telling her she should do the same.
It’s not about timely manner. It’s about paying people what is agreed upon. Legally, she is responsible to pay her rent and if the check bounced, that’s on her.
Her. 100%. In nearly all contracts, there is no “deposit by date” listed. And, it could have also been the bank lagging.
It’s the same as if she handed him actual cash and he not touch it for 3 weeks. It’s his money to do what he wants with it, when he wants.
Either way, had the check been deposited the second he received it, then she would have had to add more money for the other bills.
It’s no different than if you run a card at a restaurant and it takes 3-5 business days to process, and even longer to process tip. She didn’t have the money in her account. Unfortunately, that’s all on her.
She should have better money management skills to know that money wasn’t taking out yet . So shouldn’t of touched it. It wasn’t hers even though it was still in her account
Dad's FB Video!!
Did anyone see that video a dad posted on his daughters FB page? He saw a post she made where she bashed her parents and cursed them, called them lazy and told them they should pay her for stuff she did around the house... So he called her out on it and put the video on her page!! Sorry if I missed a post already about this already, but I just saw the video and IT WAS AWESOME!!! Hahahhaa!
Is it werid that i check my wife's recently used emojis to see which ones she sent and ask her who she sent them to???

Had my appointment today !! 14 weeks 4 days.. Checked for gender , its a girl !!! Heartrate 151, she weighs 4 ounces and is 4 inches long.. She has super long legs like me and daddy, and she had her hand on her forehead the whole time !!! I love her so much.. Can't wait to see her again in 2 weeks !!
I am super mad right now..... I talked to my landlord and we agreed to her cashing the rent check on the 31 of this month because my money will be in that day and she cashed early. She never cashed it early before so now I only have $60.00 dollars for groceries this week😡
Although I think he shouldn't have waited she should have kept tabs on that check. When I send checks I keep that money there and pay attention to when it clears.
