Looking for advice: my LO has always showed interest in food so we've been trying to get him to eat baby food (the cereal and also now jars) and he forces his mouth closed and refuses it even though he wants everything else in his mouth all the time (including food we are trying to eat) also: the two times we tried giving him a little solid textured food (a tiny piece of watermelon and one of those dissolvable puffs) he gagged and vomited the contents of his stomach all over. Is there anything I can do to help his transition to eating solid foods?

Try baby led weaning. My youngest did not want to be fed. She wanted to do it herself. We fed her everything we ate for the most part. She did awesome.
Just keep trying textures etc until you find what he tolerates.
My son is 14 months tomorrow and we can hardly get him to eat solid foods on his own. We want to wean him off formula by 18 months and have been trying to get him to snack on small finger foods and he mainly just plays with it or throws it off his tray. Sometimes he will eat it if we give it to him but most of the time he shakes his head no. Any ideas or tips on how to get him more interested in eating? He will eat yogurt bites and cherrios on his own but that's about it.

Quick question for mommies of babies who eat solids. (Don't tell me what a doctor said, tell me what your babies are doing!) Ajani has no interest in solids at all, as far as eating. He likes to touch and grab food but he doesn't bring it to his mouth. Did any other babies start this way? (He's EBF. We aren't in any hurry to have him eat other things, just seeing how other babies transitioned since we haven't had a baby in 9 years.)
Watermelon can be a bit harsh on baby's tum. Try some steamed butternut squash in tiny chunks or something very soft.
