Can't wait for nursery so we can get things moving with SENCO. The wait is awful 😞 Those of you with experience, where did it go after the first initial assessment? The head of SENCO came to nursery and assessed him just before they broke up. I got a written report of her findings but no further explanation to when we will see her again/ where everything goes from here...

Our SENCO was advised to start putting in place a EHR early help record, which would mean things be put in place to help the child and TAC (team around child) meetings which parents, key worker and anyone involved with child should attend, I think they are like every 3 months. Then once that was reviewed twice they then put in the paperwork for his EHCP (Education and health care plan) for him to start primary school with. Very long winded process and you need to constantly be on at them!

I worried it was a long process but also half expected it to be. Just he had his initial assessment and i feel i've been left in the dark because it was right on top of half term i've had no chance to follow up. It took almost 6 months after the nursery referred him for SENCO to even come in and do the assessment. He goes into 'big' nursery in september so i'm hoping it all get's rolling swiftly ready for reception next September 😫 i'm already dreading the new term because he goes into the bigger class which means all new staff and a totally different key worker and he clicked so well with his old key worker i worry he's going to struggle to settle this time round!
