So I'm really lost .... I haven't spoken to my dad in at least ten years. He was an addict during my childhood and caused a lot of problems for me . Me knowing him caused me a lot of trauma and issues to the point where unfortunately I deal with PTSD and anxiety to this day.I not going to completely fault him considering it also had to do with the people and environment I was in growing up.And awhile ago he called me asking to meet me and my daughter. Its been over a week and I have het to give him an answer. On one hand I want to get to know him and the Puerto Rican side of my family and have my daughter know her family but on the other hand I'm not sure if I have truly forgiven him for the thing I went through in my past. I would appreciate your advice...

Do as for what your heart and gut desires!! If you meet and all awesome.. U can always care and love him from a distance and do a not often meet up or keep it social via text or media.. Just feel it may be harder on u in person if u did meet with him and u havent fully forgave him of the past life events.. Take a day at a time and in time will tell you truthfully if its a go or not for you in the end .. Prayers

Maybe for now you can just talk over the phone to get to know him again (feel him out). Till your comfortable. Or take your husband/boyfriend with you. My dad was an alcoholic and the last time I saw him I was 13. Last time I talked to him I believe I was 21. He died when I was 24. But my dad never changed. Maybe your dad did and hes trying to make up for his decisions. It doesnt hurt to try but that's why I suggested going into it slowly by talking over the phone for a bit first.

My dad is an addict. Thankfully I didn’t know much till my early teens when we left him because my mom is a super hero. He got clean when I was about 18 but I had then moved out of state.
I totally get your reluctance!! What if you meet him without your daughter and get to know him a little before bringing her into it. He has to earn the right to have a relationship with you and your kids. That’s how I did with my dad.
I hope it works out for you. Whatever you decide to do!!

Thank you very much , I think I'm going to take it slower with him because it's possible that he has changed
