At age did your kidd stop napping during the day?
Trying to settle a very pointless god damn debate about my sons schedule with someone who isnt his other parent 🙄.
Rory just turned 3, hes autistic with hyperkinesis (early adhd), he has a HORRIBLE struggle getting to sleep whether it be for a nap or for bed. So I'm trying to cut him of naps. This kid can stay up until 11:30pm/12am even if his nap is as early as 1pm in the afternoon, the days he DOESNT have a nap he goes to bed at a relatively normal time.
I'm being argued and belittled because "every other kid in America eats at-- and naps at -- and sleeps at--",
SO, tell me ML, what time do your kids nap/ go to bed.

We dropped naps right when my son turned 3 because he wouldn’t go to sleep until 9 or 10. Dropped the nap and he was back to going to bed at 7 with no problems.

My first hasn’t napped since she was 1. 🤷🏼♀️ shes always hated naps.

Both my boys stopped napping at like 2 I wasn’t ready to give up the naps but they were and the fight wasn’t worth it anymore. But they went to bed at 7pm at that age and slept all night so I’d take the “witching hour” over the struggle to have them nap anyway

If he does better without a nap then cut the nap. Every child has different needs

@gumdropguppy, totally get why it irks you. I have a friend who is always telling me what I should be doing to parent my kid and her kids are... not a great example 😂 I just smile and nod and then go home and vent to my husband how annoying it is bc she’s so confident in her bad advice! I guess it irks me bc it makes me feel like she thinks she’s a better parent than me

@tacos4lyfe the feeling is mutual, it seems shes saying it from a place of "my kids are older I know what I'm doing more than you do" well her kids may be older but ones in prison and the others a meh example 🤷🏻♀️

My 10 year old stopped at 15 months. My 6 year old stopped at 5 yrs

My kids are 3 and they can rest or nap but they have to have down time. It's your kid and the schedule that works best for your family. I definitely wouldn't try to explain myself or my ways to a wall. I love his name.... I've loved that name for a long time!!

Thankyou! It's a name I'm very happy to have chosen. I've never met another rory in my life, yet ironically I just found out theres THREE others, spelled the exact same, in his preschool this year lol

The only thing I would be concerned with is making sure he’s getting adequate sleep. Whether it’s all at once or an overnight and a nap if you can add up 10-13 hours of sleep you can tell that person to kick rocks. I too require down time of my daughter even if she won’t nap that day. Some days she’s bouncing off of the walls but she still needs to spend some time by herself in her room to recalibrate
