Love my son dearly 💙. With that being said how dare he decide to say “dada” before “mama”. I’m the one who does everything for him. Any moms have this issue? How did you react? Keep in mind his father isn’t present in his life. So I’m not sure who taught him this
@shanielebrown, I thought it was pretty funny 😅 makes me feel better that she chooses me first
Dada is easier to say than mama. And he doesn't know any better. He's just an infant. It's nothing at all to be concerned about. Wouldn't even call it an "issue". Be thankful he's reached the milestone. It isn't something he was taught. It's just a sound.
It has nothing to do with someone teaching it to him. A "D" and "Da" is one if the first sounds a baby will make. Followed by M and N, then usually a B. They're not necessarily saying Dada, it's just usually the first sound a baby will make, trying to talk.
@shanielebrown I understand it would suck to hear it in your position, but maybe you can try and turn it into something else? Show him things that start with D and repeat them? That way it won't be associated with Dad.
@mamagunn.no.1 I’ve been repeating mama but it’s he’s not going to get that right now so I’ll start off with dog
He's only five months old, he's just making sounds at this point and dada and mama are some of the first sounds they tend to repeat. He's not even aware of what dada or mama means at 5 months old. He's likely just making noises as he's learning to use his voice and you're connecting the sounds with words even though to him, it's just babble and fun to make that sound.
I know he’s not aware. Just makes me sad 😢. I love heading him babble but saying “dada” puts me in a weird mood
@shanielebrown just remind yourself that it's just a funny noise and it doesn't mean anything.
Thats unusual. Babies toddlers usually say what they're taught or they hear. My sons dad wasnt and isnt part of his life and he never once said dada dad or daddy. Still doesn't because he doesnt have one in his life. Hes 10 now. His first word was ball. Then kitty cat THEN mama lol
@shanielebrown but the hearing it at daycare and everything makes sense. Because its still being said
Saying mama & dada comes naturally to babies, my dad wasn't in my life at all and my first word was dada, upset my mom a little cause she didn't know why I said dada but she got over it cause noone taught me how to say dada, it just comes easier than saying mama, d rolls off the tongue, m comes from the lips @shanielebrown don't take him saying dada to heart😊 he's just learning new words mama💕
My daughters first word was Dada, she said it for the first time on Mother’s Day 😅
