My son bit a freaking hole in a girls face today at daycare . This biting is an on and off problem. He does it purely out of anger and I dont know why. Does anyone have any tips on how to handle this ? He never does it to me or his father . Mainly certain family members . And we discipline him when we see it . I’m just at a loss . Idk what to do 😭

Lynnie would bite her brother on the face, fingers, leg etc. Either out of jealousy or excitement, I never could tell. We just would have talks with her and tell her that she couldn't hurt her brother, what worked though, was her brother bit her back one day and she just cried and cried, never bit again.

His cousin bit him back a few months ago and he didn’t even cry. He got him good too. Like he had a bruise on his arm for a good week. And the indents of his teeth were there the rest of the day

He does it because he isn’t able to communicate his anger so he shows it. At his age redirection and consistently showing him gentle touches. Try to help him find different ways to communicate his anger and frustration. He is still a baby and it’s a phase.

I try so hard and when I tell him he’ll literally just be so angry and hit me or whatever . I truly don’t understand

be consistent. Sometimes though if they are at the point they are really angry, all you can do is redirect. Trying to reason with a baby or child that’s angry just frustrates you because their is no reasoning when they are in such an upset state they don’t hear or see what you’re trying to tell them.

There’s more to biting than just behavior it’s a way to express their emotions so whoever they are biting repeatedly are probably causing them anxiety and anger or even excitement also it’s not always behavior and can be sensory talk to your pediatrician if it happens often.
