Well...basic math and common knowledge.
A years has 12 months. He's 2 years old so 12+12=24 months then add on 8 months so he's 32 months

Just simple math! Add 12+12, that equals 24, then however many months past their birthday, you add 1 for each month. Example my daughters birthday was June 13th 2017. So 2 months ago on the 13th she was 24 months, on August 13th, she will be 2 years 2 months. Which is 26 months.
