I was wondering if any of you ladies know anything about benefits and what ones we’d be entitled too? I’m not on any and I’ve never been so I don’t know much at all. I’ve had a look online but it’s all so confusing🤦🏻♀️
My parter works full time and he has received DLA (now called PIP) since he was 5. He has autism. We got a letter saying his DLA is being taken away as he doesn’t qualify for it now?!?! Autism is a lifelong condition that doesn’t go away so we don’t know why this has happened. He’s appealing it and hopefully he’ll get it back. But in the meantime we’re going to struggle as it’s a lot of money to lose!
Does anyone know what benefits we’d qualify for? He works full time and I don’t work. I haven’t worked in a few years since I lost my wee girl. Since his DLA has stopped we only receive child benefit every week now. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

They’ve most likely taken the DLA away as he is capable to work and earn.
Look at the entitled to website. You fill in all your details and it will tell you your entitlements. You are probably eligible for child tax credits.

Yes this is right. The DLA is likely to be taken as he is able to work full time. It’s designed to cover income lost from the inability to work.
Most of the benefits are now under universal credits. This website is the best place to look

I think it’s been changed so that if your health effects your wages then it’s there to bump it up, like if you are on an hourly wage or self employed and you have to miss time at work because of your health or appointments etc

it’s not I claim dla for 2 of mine and I’m very clued up on how dla works and pip one of mine is changing over to pip as from
The age of 16 u can’t claim dla as now they have changed it that dla is for children 16 and under so everyone who was on dla has to re claim for pip and the points system is harder to get... I know ppl who get enhanced rates on mobility and care on pip but still work ie they are taken to work and work in a office at a desk all day it’s nothing to do with bumping ur wages up hun it’s how ur disability effects ur daily life and ability xx

just out of curiosity... if someone is able to work full time and earn like everyone else, what are the payments for? Like I can understand the money could be to cover costs of travel to hospital appointments or prescriptions etc, but what if someone doesn’t need that?

tbh hun I’m not sure pip is very hard to get and in most cases they refuse it and u have to appeal it x

sounds like yet another benefit that isn’t properly managed and is probably abused (like the rest of them) I swear the whole system is a mess!

see dla was easier to claim and was abused no interview no nothing this is y they have changed it over to pip u have to have an assessment but in all fairness the person who does the medical assessment isn’t a trained doctor so how can that be they also twist a lot of what u say... my dad has copd bladder cancer and no control of his bladder function he can’t walk very far he gets out of breath but the assessment person said he walked up 3 steps he was able to walk! I helped him up the steps and then he had to stop they are very sly I had a apeal for my dad and now he gets standard rate x

For my partner it was to help pay for the person who helps him at work. She checks on him at work to make sure he’s handling it well and also makes sure he’s not being taken advantage of or mistreated as due to autism he wouldn’t be able to tell if that was happening. He also misses days of work here and there due to emotional episodes as part of his autism means he can’t probably process his emotions. For him autism affects him more mentally as his mobility is fine. He was on high care low mobility when he was on DLA xx

That’s horrible. I’ve seen so many horrible stories in the news about people with cancer being refused PIP. It’s heartbreaking😞

she’s probably assessed him and seen he is settled and able to carry on working. That might be why they’ve stopped the payments.

Have u just moved over from dla to pip? If ur on Facebook have a look for a page called fight back they are really good etc they will help u apeal xx

Yeah he got a letter saying he was to move over to PIP and had to go for an assessment. We went for it and they didn’t give him a single point despite having Autism. So he’s appealed the decision. Thank you I’ll take a look at the page! xx

I feel for you. It’s already been so stressful for us and my partner is having a really hard time accepting it. He feels so let down and abandoned by a system that was supposed to help him😕

@emmabump13, Yh my Andrew has the mental age of a 6 year old ... I also know some one who’s child has adhd gets high rate both on pip but has a college bus pass to get there and back is left while the mum goes on holiday etc the mum has a mobility car for her and she can do everything herself! Bloody pisses me off it does X

@emmabump13, fluff knows I think a lot of lies were told pisses me right off I also don’t have much to do with her she says she can’t go out etc erm but get the bus to college! My boy can’t go anywhere at all either and my little 2 year old he’s 3 this month he can’t even go out the door he has sensory processing disorder it’s so bad he’s also asd none verbal with a 70% development delay xx
